Skincare inspiration from US Patent No 6,576,269–Sea Buckthorn skincare recipes

The herb, sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), is known to contain high level of antioxidants and beneficial fatty acid.  A typical chemical composition for a sea buckthorn oil extract includes Carotene, Beta-carotene, Vitamin E, Linoleic acid, Linolenic acid, Oleic acid, Palmitic acid, Stearic acid, Eicosenoic acid, etc.   Sea buchthorn oil extract not only provides the nutrients required for the proliferation of epithelial cells, but also protects the injured skin against bacterial infections and dehydration.

Sea Buckthorn Oil
To obtain sea buckthorn oil extract, blend commercially available dried sea buckthorn berries with virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, or safflower oil for 5 minutes.  Seal the mixture in a glass or ceramic.  Let the mixture sit for 72 hours. The container should be shaken manually often.   After the end of the extraction period, leave the container unshaken for at least 24 hours at room temperature to allow the oil layer to separate from the herbal material. The oil layer can be collected by decantation.   New sea buchthorn can be added to the left over oil and herb mixture so the oil mixture can be used multiple times.  The extraction cycle can be three times.  The final raw extract can be purified by filtration at room temperature through paper filters to obtain sea buckthorn liposoluble herbal extracts.  The extract can be uses as an oil component for variety of recipes in my other posts.

Sea Buckthorn Skin Regeneration Oil
You can also make a blend of oil extract with sea buckthrone and other herbs.  For skin regeneration purpose, sea buckthorn, rose hips (Rosa species), St. John's wort (Hypericus perforatum), chickweed herb (Stellaria media), plantain herb (Plantago major), and calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis) can be blended together with olive oil, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, or safflower oil for 5 minutes. New herb blends can be added to the left over oil and herb mixture so the oil mixture can be used multiple times.  The extraction cycle can be three times.  The final raw extract can be purified by filtration at room temperature through paper filters to obtain herb liposoluble herbal extracts.  The extract can be uses as an oil component for variety of recipes in my other posts.
