At
night, before cleaning my face, I sometimes do a quick facial: I would wipe my
face with a cotton pad soaked with fresh squeezed and diluted lemon juice; or
cover my face with egg white. The reason
I am addicted to lemon juice is that citric acid is a good exfoliate and has
anti-bacterial effect, also, lemon juice is choked with Vitamin C, a known
collagen booster. Of course, the smell
is great too. Leave the juice or egg
white on face for 5 to 10 minutes. Then,
wash it out. Of course, you can always
start the routine with washing your face with a face cleanser skipping the
quick facial step.
After cleaning, pat dry your skin. Then, wipe your face and neck with a cotton pad soaked with moisturizing toner. Sometimes, instead of using moisturizing toner, I will use a paper mask. I have a collection of pre-packaged paper masks so I could use a mask dependent on my skin condition and mood of the day. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minute, then take if off. You can also make your home-made paper masks. Use a good quality paper towel, cut out holes for eyes, nose, and mouth, soak with moisturizing toner, and leave it on for 15 min.
You
should have a clean and well-nourished face now. Next, you need to make sure to seal the
moisture in. Pat on a layer of
moisturizing eye gel around eyes and a layer of serum on your face and neck. Then, pat on a layer of facial treatment
cream. At night, you can use products
with a high concentration of AHA or retinol.
At last, cover your face and neck with a night cream. Around eyes, I general will pat on a thin
layer of sealer to seal in the moisture. In future post, I will teach you how to make
Cherruby Golden Balm, which is a shea butter based homemade sealer I use for
wrinkle prone areas—around eyes, lips, and between my eyebrows. It’s optional--you don’t have to use it.
